An exciting opportunity to join the International Team as a Programme Manager, International in a part time permanent role, at the Electoral Commission in Wellington.  

This role supports managing the delivery of electoral assistance programmes, particularly to Pacific nations.  It provides electoral programme expertise and knowledge allowing independent elections to be run successfully.  

The Programme Manager, International is a part time (20 hours per week), permanent position and would suit a candidate who is action orientated, has a customer focus, drive for results and excels at relationship management.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support other nations with the delivery of independent elections  
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders  
  • Lead and coach a diverse project team that works collaboratively and is committed to team goals and objectives
  • Work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to establish the criteria and terms for each Memorandum of Understanding connection 
  • Develop realistic action plans and manage organisation change 
  • Use a systematic approach to identify opportunities to solve problems and offer alternative solutions 
  • Manage budget requirements, meet organisational financial budgeting, and monitor and report expenditure  

To apply you must have: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or international development experience  
  • Experience with the New Zealand electoral processes, systems and operations 
  • Knowledge of the sensitive political and governmental environments the Commission works in internationally 
  • Experience in analysing and documenting business requirements 
  • Experience in event management 
  • High level computer literacy 
  • Well-developed negotiation and relationship management skills
