The Electoral Commission has released the preliminary results for the 30 November Parliamentary by-election in the electorate of Christchurch East.

The preliminary results are based on the 13,318 ordinary votes counted on election night.

 

Special declaration votes still to be counted are estimated to be 590 (4% of total votes). This includes an estimated 17 overseas votes.

The total estimated votes (those counted on election night plus estimated special votes to be counted) are 13,908.

Voter turnout for the 2013 Christchurch East by-election is estimated to be 41.4% of the 33,555 enrolled as at 5pm Friday 29 November. 

The results, including results by voting place, will be available from 9.30pm at www.electionresults.govt.nz

The Official Results process starts tomorrow Sunday 1 December and is expected to be completed by Wednesday 11 December.  All votes counted on election night will be recounted. Special declaration votes will be processed and counted. The target to release the Official Results for the Christchurch East by-election is noon Wednesday 11 December 2013.
