Last few days of voting in the Tāmaki Makaurau by-election
With election day in the Tāmaki Makaurau by-election just days away, the Electoral Commission is encouraging eligible voters to have their say on who will represent them in Parliament.
“Election day in the Tāmaki Makaurau by-election is this Saturday 6 September, so there are only a few more days left to vote and have your say,” says Anusha Guler, Deputy Chief Executive Operations.
“The by-election is being held to elect a local MP for the Tāmaki Makaurau Māori electorate. If you are enrolled in the electorate, or are eligible to enrol, you have until 7pm on Saturday to vote.”
As of Tuesday, 3681 ordinary votes had been cast in the by-election. That doesn’t include special or overseas votes. More information on enrolling and voting is available online at vote.nz or by calling freephone 0800 36 76 56.
Voting place information
There are more than 30 voting places open on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 September including:
- Westfield Manukau Mall, Thu and Fri 9am to 9pm
- PAK’nSAVE Glenn Innes, Thu 9am to 7pm, Fri 9am to 5pm
- Ngā Puna o Waiōrea, Western Springs, Thu and Fri 4pm to 8pm
- Manurewa Scout Hall, Thu 10am to 7pm, Fri 10am to 4pm
- Ruapōtaka Marae, Thu and Fri 10am to 4pm
- Ellerslie War Memorial Hall, Thu 10am to 3pm, Fri 10am to 4pm
- MIT Ōtara Campus Pasifika Community Centre, Thu and Fri, 10am to 4pm
- Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae, Thu and Fri 10am to 2pm
- CCS Disability Action, Yarnton House, Royal Oak, Thu 10am to 4pm (not open Fri)
On election day, Saturday 6 September, 84 voting places will be open from 9am to 7pm. A full list is available online at vote.nz.
