The winning majority was 3,519 votes. In the 2025 Tāmaki Makaurau by-election there were:
- 44,421 people enrolled
- a total of 12,071 ordinary and special votes cast
- 2,692 special votes, including 156 overseas votes

Voter turnout for the 2025 Tāmaki Makaurau by-election was 27.2% of the 44,421 people enrolled. That compares with 35.9% at the Port Waikato by-election in November 2023 and 31.4% at the Hamilton West by-election in December 2022.

“A lot of work goes into delivering a by-election in a short amount of time. Thank you to everyone who took part and voted, and to those who came to work for us in the 115 voting place locations across this large electorate,” says Karl Le Quesne, Chief Electoral Officer.
The Electoral Commission expects to return the writ showing the successful candidate on Tuesday 23 September, assuming there are no recounts.
