Candidate nominations for the Hamilton West by-election closed at noon on Tuesday 8 November.
Nominations could be formally accepted once the writ for the by-election was issued on Wednesday 2 November.
To be a candidate for the by-election you needed to be:
- a New Zealand citizen
- enrolled to vote
- nominated by two registered electors who are enrolled in the Hamilton West electorate
- pay a deposit of $300.
