Check Enrolment details in Black and White

Aug 30, 2005 | Media release

From tomorrow (31 August), the 2.812 million Kiwis who enrolled in time will be able to check their details on the printed electoral rolls that will be used on election day.

The Electoral Enrolment Centre has completed printing the 42,000 electoral rolls needed for the 2005 General Election, which contain the details of all those who enrolled by 17 August 2005.

"The availability of the printed electoral rolls is a major milestone in the election preparations," says Murray Wicks, National Manager of the Electoral Enrolment Centre.

"The electoral rolls had to be available to check off all those people who cast an advance vote from tomorrow (31 August). We have provided copies to the Chief Electoral Office for this purpose.

"People can check whether they are on the printed roll at any PostShop, Registrar of Electors Office, library or courthouse."

There are over 170,000 people who are eligible who still have not enrolled.

"For the 94 percent of people who are on the printed rolls it will be quicker for them to vote on election day as they will receive their EasyVote card in the mail in the week before Polling day.

"Anyone who is still to enrol will need to cast a special declaration vote."

Enrolment forms are available by calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56), freetexting your name and address to 3676, visiting any PostShop or going online to

www.elections.org.nz. You can also check and update your details on the website.
